Hello community. We are very happy to tell you more details to the group of people interested in making collective houses(here you can read the initial invitation). We believe there is no more congruent, and even more radical, way than to invite our inhabitants to reinvent the way we search, close and open houses.
What is a Collective House in CDMX?
A Collective House in CDMX is an initiative of Covive to create spaces in which several people share a house, collaborating in decision making and actively participating in the management and improvement of it. It is a form of community living that seeks to promote coexistence, solidarity and sustainability.
What is the process to join a Collective House in CDMX?
At Covive, we have been working for four years to celebrate the human essence of sharing. Until now, when we found a house suitable for the model of Covive we do the following. First, we approach the owner, negotiate, get investors and furnishers. Finally, we look for the community that will inhabit it.
However, with this new initiative, we seek to reinvent ourselves and be more congruent. We want the community to be at the center of our decisions from the beginning of the evaluation and opening process of any home in Mexico City.
The process to join a Casa Colectiva in CDMX consists of the following steps:
Commitment of time, resources and values: We are looking for at least six people committed to the project. We want the co-founders to be involved in the remodeling, care and improvement of the house. In addition, it is important to share values. Respect, resilience and communication are fundamental to this initiative.
Real estate search and evaluation: Covive will be the coordinator of the whole process. We will present to the co-founders the available properties in different areas of the city, with different scales and challenges. We will discuss in a collective dialogue. For the group to decide which opportunities are most suitable.
Negotiation and approval: Once the group decides on a particular house, Covive will act as the representative to the owners. We will negotiate the terms of operation and remodeling, ensuring that the group's needs are met.
Occupancy and resources: The length of stay will depend on the consensus of the group and the type of house to be opened. In principle, a stay of one to five years is expected to guarantee stability and financial viability. The financial resources contributed by the co-founders will be used to remodel, furnish and operate the house.
Opening of the house: Once the house is ready, the new inhabitants will be welcomed and community life will begin. Covive will continue to support the management and provide tools to maintain a harmonious and enriching coexistence.
Who can be a co-founder?
We are open to anyone to co-found a Casa Colectiva in CDMX, as long as they comply with the following commitments:
1. Live in congruence with the values of coexistence established by Covive, such as respect, resilience and effective communication.
2. Invest at least one hour per month in the pre-opening process of the house.
3. Commit to occupy the house in the medium term, preferably one to five years, to ensure stability and community development.
4. Contribute the necessary financial resources, such as a security deposit and a monthly contribution, for the remodeling and operation of the house.
