Between us, we are going to tell you some of the typical fees involved in moving from one place to another and maybe you can turn it around and save some pesos. Moving and signing a new contract is always tedious and can sometimes be more stressful than necessary.
Hidden - or not so hidden - quotas
Deposit
The security deposit is a payment you give to the person who rents or manages the property as an advance payment. In other words, it is a good faith payment so that they can collect in the event that you have not paid for a month or have incurred damages to the property. Normally, when you move out and you have left things in order and as you found them then your deposit should be returned to you in full.
Can this fee be avoided?
Everywhere you go you will most likely have to cover this fee; however, if you are one of those people who take care of their space and are cautious, you will probably not have to face this problem and you will have your deposit back when you leave.
Real estate fees
If you used a real estate agency to get a tour and rent your apartment, there is usually a fee to you or the owner for that function. If so, make sure you know what the fee is before acquiring their services, be clear about this before you start the process because you probably won't be able to get out of it later.

Fees to be applied
In the U.S. it is customary to conduct credit bureau, employment and background studies which have a cost. Normally these studies are done prior to the approval of the application and then you can continue with the process of renting the space.
In some real estate agencies in Mexico these fees are applied especially if your documents are found to be suspicious to cover your responsibilities. And of course, you have to pay for it.

The move
From putting all your boxes in cardboard boxes to carrying everything you need to live from one place to another. You can do this easily or purchase the full moving service for a fee of a few thousand pesos. Whether you have an acquaintance or family member help you move all your stuff from one place to another or you hire a professional moving service to do the move, all options have costs included in some way.
Can this fee be avoided?
All of our homes have pre-furnished rooms, ready for you to arrive with just your suitcase and start getting comfortable. No moving, no packing or unpacking.
Contract services
We have encountered some places where we have been asked to cancel or contract a new internet service, as the new tenant will probably have other preferences or needs. So we had to open our own contract and then cancel it. The slowness to do this, we felt it took forever.
Can this be avoided?
Of course. All Covive houses have high speed internet.
