Our houses and a taste of honey: Honey hive

We take our premise of design to share very seriously. Beyond the spaces, we wanted to create objects that reflected who we are, what we are looking for and that, above all, provide small nudges so that the inhabitants live much more.

Over the last few months, we had brainstorming so we could land all the plans we had in mind. It has been a rather interesting and entertaining path, so today, we want to talk about one of our objects: The Honey Hive.

How did it come about?

We wanted to find an object that would help the inhabitants spend time together and share something, so we came up with the thought of designing a honey that was made to share. This is based on the respect and communication, which are two fundamental components for the vibrant coexistence of houses.

Why a honey?

Mexican culture has some traditions, one of them – and the most important ones – is given at the time of the meal. We usually sit at the table together, wait for everyone to have food on the plate and then share that moment. We enjoyed the food in the company of those we love. From this beautiful tradition is that the honey hive comes out. The idea of this is that we only use it when we’re going to share it.

Why is it called hive honey?

Because living, listening, laughing, apapating, valuing other people, involves and means an important care that you can do in your home, making it feel like a hive.

Instructions

To this object we decided to attach simple instructions that give simple guide to be able to understand what the purpose of this was and how to use it: The idea is simple, that put a toasted bread, take cookies, bread sticks or direct on a spoon; knock on your housemate’s bedroom door and invite you to talk for a while while you enjoy the honey. At that point they can take the time to ask what their sweetest childhood memory is, of their last year, week or day. They decide the length of the moment, but the important thing is to share a sweet memory and enjoy it together.

We are still in the construction and improvement of these objects, so far we are very happy with what we have created, but we know that this is only the beginning.

And you, what anecdote would you share while you enjoyed the honey?
